EVENTOS AGOSTO º AUGUST EVENTS

Finalizamos mes y con él, una vez más, nos hacemos eco de las propuestas culturales del próximo, agosto. Muchos de vosotros, nuestros lectores, tal vez os encontréis de vacaciones por lo que podréis visitar las ciudades hoy seleccionadas y echar un vistazo a las siguientes exposiciones. ¡Buen provecho!

The month is ending and, once again, we give you  the cultural proposals for the next August. Maybe you could meet some of them if you visit these selected cities.Enjoy!

PAÍS VASCO

1813. Asedio, incendio y reconstrucción de San Sebastián. Museo de San Telmo, San Sebastián. Hasta el 7 de enero 2014.

Playa, pintxos, Kursaal, paseos.... pero en agosto en San Sebastián hay mucho más, como esta exposición que rememora el sitio de la ciudad guipuzcoana en la que únicamente quedó en pie la calle 31 de agosto, antigua calle Trinidad.                                                                                                              Beach, pintxos, Kursaal, walks .... but in August in San Sebastian you could visit this exhibition that commemorates the site of the city in which only left standing 31 August street, old street called Trinidad. You could visit it until the 7th of january. 

Barroco exuberante. De Cattelan a Zurbarán. Museo Guggenheim de Bilbao. Hasta el 6 de octubre. 

Se trata de una exposición diferente. Junto a obras de grandes artistas barrocos se exponen obras contemporáneas, donde lo que se pretende es desmitificar de los recurrentes tópicos a la pintura barroca, así como situarla en su tiempo, un contexto de desmoronamiento del orden establecido.

This is a different exhibition, along Baroque works of great artists with contemporary works, where the aim is to demystify the recurring topics to Baroque painting and put it in its time. Until the 6 th october. 

ANDALUCÍA

Dennis Hopper. En el camino. Fundación Picasso, Málaga. Hasta el 29 de septiembre. 

Director de cine, actor, coleccionista de arte y fotógrafo, por ello pudo fotografiar de cerca a los grandes actores de su momento, con los que tuvo la oportunidad de trabajar. En total más de 140 películas de entre 1961 y 1967. 

Film director, actor, art collector and photographer, so he was able to photograph closely the great actors of his time. In total more than 140 films between 1961 and 1967. Until 29th of september.

MADRID 

Lecturas de Cabecera.Ilustrarte 2012. Matadero, Madrid. Hasta el 29 de septiembre. 

150 obras de más de 50 ilustradores internacionales cuyo objetivo es contarnos una historia a través de sus obras  recopiladas en un libro ilustrado. Una obra de arte muy completa.

150 works by 50 international illustrators whose tell a story through his works collected in an illustrated book. 

Disfrutad, los que podáis y queráis, de estas exposiciones. Además, si estuviera en NY  me encantaría visitar esta de Vermeer, Rembrandt and Hals: Masterpices of Dutch painting from the maurithsuis en la Frick Collection, pero de momento, me contentaré con leer las críticas en Internet...

EN LOS ORÍGENES DEL CINE º CINEMA ORIGINS

Tras unos Sanfermines muy vividos, estamos de vuelta. Ahora, sólo queda cerrar los ojos, recordar los grandes momentos que hemos disfrutado junto a nuestros amigos y familia en estos soleados días e irnos preparando para los del año que viene. Ya falta menos...

Aprovechando los nubarrones y tormentas de estos últimos días, que mejor plan que poner una película. Este post va a ser menos de palabra y más de imagen, porque tal vez, en muy pocas ocasiones, no nos hayamos parado no solo a ver, sino a deleitarnos, de este cine, el de los orígenes.

After a very experienced San Fermin, we're back. Now, we only have to close our eyes and remember the great times we enjoyed with our friends and go on preparing for next year. Leveraging the clouds and storms of these days, the best plan was playing a movie. This post is going to give us a view of the cinema and its origins. 

FINALES DEL XIX, FRANCIA º LATE XIX, FRANCE 

Ya todos sabemos dónde surgió el séptimo arte y de la mano de quienes, los hermanos Lumiére, Auguste y Louis, pero, tal vez, nunca hayáis visto la primera película del mundo: Los obreros saliendo de la fábrica en Lyon, 1895.

We all know where did the seventh art born by the Lumiere brothers, Auguste and Louis, but, perhaps, you never saw the first movie in the world: Workers Leaving the Factory in Lyon, 1895.

A partir de ésta , llegarían otros ejemplos, experimentos en los que ellos mismos y su familia se convertían en actores protagonistas, grabando escenas de su vida cotidiana, desde la llegada del tren a la estación, escenas de la vida familiar o anecdóticas como la siguiente, que han hecho que se califique a su cine como ''fotografía animada'': El jardinero regado, 1895.

Other examples were experiments involving themselves and their family became leading actors, filming scenes of their daily life, like the arrival of the train at the station, scenes of family life or anecdotal like this , The gardener watered, 1895.

Ahora es el turno del director de teatro, George Méliès, trabajará en estudio, con luz artificiar, con un guión defenido, actores, muchos recursos teatrales en donde ya se deja constancia en que el cine no es solo documental, sino también es espectáculo. El viaje a la luna, 1902.

Now is the turn of the theater director, George Méliès, he filmed at a study with artificial light, actors, theatrical resources that gives show to the cinema: The trip to the moon, 1902.

LOS MARAVILLOSOS AÑOS 20, EEUU º THE WONDERFUL YEARS 20, USA

Una dura infancia marcaron la vida de Charles Spencer Chaplin proyectándolo desde 1916 en Charlot, un don Quijote moderno, de grandes zapatos, bombín y bastón. Tal fue su éxito que en 1919 fundaba la United Artist junto a otros amigos directores. Entre su trilogía de tragedias cómidas, destaca La quimera de oro, 1925 en donde se representan los infortunios de Chaplin acompañando a un grupo de buscadores de oro en Alaska.

A tough childhood marked the life of Charles Spencer Chaplin Charlot. In 1916 was dated his character like a modern Don Quixote with great shoes, bowler hat and a cane. Such was his success that in 1919 founded the United Artists along with other friends directors. Among his trilogy of tragedies meals, The Gold Rush, 1925 where Chaplin went to a trip with a group of gold prospectors to Alaska.

Igualmente, Luces de ciudad, 1931, toda una crítica a la sociedad de la época. Chaplin será encausado por la Comisión de Actividades Antiamericanas y tildado de filocomunista lo que le granjearía su exilio a Europa.

Similarly, City Lights, 1931, a review of the society of his time. Chaplin will be prosecuted by the Un-American Activities Committee  called a pro-Communist so he exiled to Europe.

Y finalmente, uno de los grandes, Buster Keaton, que en su versión española fue llamado Pamplinas. Acróbata, actor de variedades, hasta que llega al cine en torno a 1920. Adquiere una silueta lánguida, un rostro impasible frente a la expresividad de su mirada, el parpadeo de sus ojos. Con sus acciones busca que se reían de él, no con él. El cameraman, 1928.

And finally, one of the greats, Buster Keaton, which in its Spanish version was called Pamplinas. Acrobat, varieties actor, a languid silhouette with a  straight face, expressiveness  eyes, he lock to laugh at him, not with him. The cameraman, 1928.

La llegada del cine sonoro supuso la caída de muchos de los grandes actores del mudo, por ello, vale la pena buscar estas películas, a pesar de que las veamos desde nuestra perspectiva actual, son películas llenas de detalles que nos ayudan a descubrir los valores y los obstáculos de aquella sociedad, que en muchos casos, todavía compartimos. 

The advent of sound cinema marked the downfall of many of the great actors of silent pictures, even though we watch them from our perspective, but this cinema is full of details that help us discover the values and obstacles of that society, which in many cases, we still share.

Gigantes, cabezudos, dianas, la procesión del santo, las peñas, música y alegría por doquier. Os animamos a que visitéis nuestra ciudad durante estos días, sin embargo, como cada fin de mes, os recogemos las más interesantes propuestas culturales de las principales capitales.

Just in a few days, Xirimiri will be in the Town Hall of Pamplona uncorking a bottle of champagne and starting, for everything great, the best parties in the world. El Museo del Prado expone una selección de estampas japonesas desde el s.XVII al s.XIX, representativas de las diferentes técnicas y tipologías hechas por los artistas japoneses.
