Maybe it does not take the fame of the Villa Savoye or Ronchamp Abbey, but it is one of the masterpieces of Swiss architect Le Corbusier. It isn't the first time we talked about it on our blog, but he's one of the great masters of twentieth century architecture with Mies, Aalto and Wright..
The house is a unifamilar which was built between 1954 and 1956 for André Jaoul and his son Michel, in the central district of Nevilly-sur-Seine, Paris, near the Champs Elysees. This district of Paris was designed for the high social elite, around a garden, in the manner of urban hôtels Rococo, but in a modern key. However, today, around this area, have built large office blocks of the largest multinationals. The House Jaoul fortunately can not be touched, it is a French Historic Monument since 1966.

The house is rectangular floor, however, the interior is divided into two, House A and House B in order to maximize space and to build two houses, one for the parent and one for the child. Both are surrounded by garden, 250 m2 house have three floors of height. Both houses are very similar, but their spatial distribution is diferent. The ground floor is the hall, and the have also there the kitchen, the lounge, the library and a bathroom; the first floor has bedrooms and bathrooms, in different numbers between one house and the other; the second floor, both have bedrooms, bathrooms and a terrace, but also in the case of House B, adds a living workshop . Each zone is divided by walls but these, instead of closing the different rooms, allow communication flow. The roof, the most original, simulates a barrel vault recessed and sometimes is pierced by openings that provide light and clearness to housing, thanks also to the treatment of the walls.
Regarding the facade of the house, use unusual materials to be an urban village and more so in the Paris of the elite of fifties, brick and wood, which gives tinge industry and with arbitrary distribution windows, gives great originality outside of the home.

If you think on travelling to Paris, visit this house, a whole except at the time and the origin of the current approach of the houses .... Au revoir!
