ARCOmadrid 2013 O EL NEGOCIO DEL ARTE EN TIEMPOS DE CRISIS ° ART BUSINESS IN TIMES OF CRISIS

La Feria Internacional de Arte Contemporáneo de más lustre y celebridad en España tuvo lugar durante los días 13 y 17 de febrero en Madrid y hasta el 24 de febrero, tuvimos la oportunidad de adquirir alguna de las piezas expuestas. Y sí, TUVIMOS. No sólo pueden adquirir obras la gentry, eso es cosa de siglos pasados. Ahora, podemos adquirir obras de arte por valor menor a 5.000 euros y el arte es un valor seguro, aunque en el contemporáneo sea más difícil discernir y descartar la aguja entre el pajar.
Este año fue Turquía la que como país invitado, con 10 galerías, dotó de carácter internacional a esta feria realizada un año más en recinto ferial de IFEMA. 
The International Exhibition of Contemporary Art knowed as ARCOmadrid took place during the 13th and 17th February in the spanish's capital. We had the opportunity to purchase some of the exhibited works with a value of less than 5,000 euros, and considering art as an insured value, is difficult to distinguish immediately art from what is not art. Turkey was the guest, providing an international role.

Iñigo Manglano-Ovalle en la Christopher Grimes Gallery, Santa Mónica. Manglano-Ovalle llegó a Madrid con la obra L'oiseau dans l'espace. Ya durante el verano de 2011, en el contexto de promoción del Museo Universidad de Navarra, Pamplona fue testigo de la performance urbana que este artista madrileño realizó en la ciudad y cuya instalación, acabó siendo expuesta en la Cocina gótica de la Catedral.
Inigo Manglano-Ovalle at Christopher Grimes Gallery, Santa Monica. Manglano-Ovalle arrived in Madrid with L'oiseau dans l'espace. Since the summer of 2011, in the context of promoting the University Museum of Navarra, Pamplona lived an urban performance by this artist from Madrid. Afterwards, the installation was showed in the Gothic Kitchen of Pamplona Cathedral.

Cristina Iglesias en la Galería Elba Benítez, Madrid. Paralelamente a la muestra del Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía dedicada a la artista donostiarra, la Galería Elba Benítez expuso las estructuras arquitectónicas que tanto la caracterizan. Si tienen oportunidad, contemplen sus puertas en la ampliación del Museo del Prado. 
Cristina Iglesias at Galería Elba Benitez, Madrid. Right now there is an exhibition at the National Museum Reina Sofia Art Center dedicated to this artist. Galeria Elba Benitez displayed architectural structures that characterize Iglesias' works. If you have opportunity, let yourself contemplate her doors in the Prado Museum extension.

Marina Abramovic en la Krizinger Gallery, Viena. La siempre imponente Marina Abramovic, siempre sorprende. En la XXXII edición de ARCO también. La galería vienesa expuso obras de su última serie, Con los ojos cerrados veo la felicidad. En este marco, se estrenó en España The artist is present, documental que recoge las principales obras de esta precursora de la perfomance junto con entrevistas a la artista y su círculo, culminación de su retrospectiva en el MOMA en el 2010. En Madrid, todavía recordamos su llegada al Real.  
Marina Abramovic in Krizinger Gallery, Vienna. Marina Abramovic, always astonishes you. This Viennese gallery exhibited her last series, With closed eyes I see happiness. In addition, these days a documentary about  Abramovic was premiere, The artist is present, about the main works of this pioneer of performance with interviews to the artist and her circles. I still remember her arrival at Royal Theatre in Madrid.

Matt Mullican en la Mai 36 Galerie, Zürich. La Mai 36 Galerie expuso obras de este artista, a raíz de la exposición Who Feels the Most Pain in the Five Worlds. El artista norteamericano trabaja estableciendo símbolos icónicos en relación con la realidad que acompaña al ser humano en su día a día.
Matt Mullican in the Mai 36 Galerie, Zürich. The Mai 36 Galerie exhibited works of this artist, following the exhibition Who Feels the Most Pain in the Five Worlds. The American artist's iconic symbols establishing working relationship with reality   accompanies the human being day by day.

Manolo Millares en la Galería Leandro Navarro, Madrid. Millares, uno de los grandes artistas españoles del s.XX, fundador del grupo El Paso, fue expuesto gracias a la galería madrileña. El artista viajó desde el surrealismo a la inclusión en su obra de materiales, arpilleras, hierro forjado, entre otros. 
Manolo Thousands Leandro Navarro in Gallery, Madrid. One of the greatest Spanish artists of the XX century. Millares' works were exhibited by this gallery. The artist traveled from surrealism to the inclusion of materials on his works, using burlaps, wrought iron, among others.

Eduardo Abaroa en la Galería Kurimanzutto, Ciudad de México.  Inserción arqueólogica está compuesta por varias fotografías a recipientes de barro antiguos con una estética buscada. Posteriormente, estas piezas quedarán recogidas en mochilas o bolsas en el área de paquetería en el Museo Nacional de Antropología de Ciudad de México. Es la obra escogida para formar parte de los fondos de la FundacionARCO realizada por este artista mexicano. Eduardo Abaroa Kurimanzutto in Gallery, Mexico City.  Inserción arqueológica is the name of the photographic works of ancient vessels keeping a desired aesthetic. These pieces will gather together in bags     for the packing area of the National Museum of Anthropology in Mexico City.This work was chosen to be part of the funds Fundación ARCO. 



Ya avanzado marzo, podemos hacer balance de los resultados conseguidos. Picasso y Chillida fueron los artistas más cotizados y pese a las escasas perspectivas de ventas como consecuencia de la subida del IVA de cara a galeristas y artistas, los resultados han sido buenos, esperanzadores, un volumen total de 118.000 visitantes y la compra de arte por parte de coleccionistas e instituciones son prueba de ello.
