Casa para niños en Finlandia ° Playhouse in Finland

¡Hola a tod@s! ¿Qué tal lleváis la semana? La casa que mostramos hoy se puede incluir en la categoría de 'micro homes' de nuestro blog. Es modular, autoconstruible, de bajísimo coste... pero sólo apta para niños. Fue diseñada y construida por sus padres, Anna & Eugeni Bach, durante los meses de Julio y Agosto de 2011.

Para entender mejor la vivienda de hoy os dejamos parte del texto que escribieron los arquitectos:

" Cuando una pareja de arquitectos tiene hijos pequeños, siempre llega el día en que éstos preguntan:

- Papá, mamá,… ¿Vosotros sois arquitectos, verdad?
- Sí…
- ¿Y hacéis casas a la gente?
- Sí, claro…

Y entonces viene la pregunta trampa:

-¿Y por qué no nos hacéis una casita a nosotros?"

Hi everybody! How's your week going? The house we feature on today's post can be included on our 'micro homes' category. It's modular, built by self-construction, extremely low cost... but only available for children. Was designed and built by their parents, Anna & Eugeni Bach, between July and August' 2011.

We leave you here the text written by the architects:

" When an architect couple has young kids, there will arrive a day when they ask:
- Mom, dad… You´re architects, aren't you?
- Yes…
- And you make houses for people?
- Yes, of course…

And then comes the key question:

- So why don't you do a house for us?"

"Ante tal situación, existen dos posibilidades: buscar alguna excusa para esquivar el tema, o prometerles que les harás una casita especialmente para ellos.

En tal situación nos encontramos antes del verano, y les prometimos que les construiríamos su casita en la granja de sus abuelos en Finlandia y, claro está, ante la insistencia y perseverancia de éstos, cumplimos entusiasmados con nuestra promesa."

"In such a situation, there are two possibilities: find an excuse to avoid it, or promise them that you willmake a house especially designed for them.

We found ourselves in this stuation last summer, and we promised them that we would build a house for them on their grandparents farm in Finland. And, of course, at the kids insistence we fulfilled our promise."

"La casita se basa principalmente en una sección, que es la estructura, muy simple, que se repite en dos módulos iguales aunque orientados en direcciones opuestas. Uno de estos módulos es a doble altura (a la escala de los niños), lo que permite que un adulto pueda entrar en la casa sin tener que agacharse. El otro módulo tiene dos niveles, conectados por una sencilla escalera permitiendo un juego más complejo en el interior.

Este sencillo punto de partida permite que, desde el exterior, la casita adquiera la presencia de un elemento casi abstracto, sin referencias a la escala, mientras que en el interior, al cruzarse los dos módulos, se identifique la sección prototípica de una casa de niños, con sus dos cubiertas simétricas, como las que nosotros mismos dibujábamos de pequeños."

"The cottage is mainly based on a section: the structure is very simple, repeated in two equal modules but oriented in opposite directions. One of these modules is double-height (to the scale of children), which allows an adult to enter the house without having to bend. The other module has two levels, connected by a simple ladder allowing a more complex game inside.

This simple starting point means that from the outside, the house acquires the presence of an almost abstract object, without reference to the scale; while inside, when crossing the two modules you can identify the prototypical section of a childish house, with the typical symmetrical roof, like those we drew ourselves when we were kids."

"Una casa completa, reducida en 13,5 m2. Aunque la abstracción del interior también permite hacer volar la imaginación, y aquellos espacios que podrían identificarse a un interior doméstico, se convierten repentinamente en las mazmorras de un castillo medieval, y el altillo en la torre principal desde la que disparar flechas a los enemigos. 

Para la estructura y los suelos se utilizó madera de abeto de la propia granja, de árboles plantados en los bosques de ésta por el bisabuelo de los niños, y cortados por su abuelo."

"The interior becomes what children understand as an essential house: a larger space that could be the living room, a lower space where the kitchen could be imagined and a higher ground where there could be the rooms. The abstract nature of the interior spaces allows a child´s imagination to flow, and those spaces that could be identified as a domestic interior can suddenly become the dungeon of a medieval castle, or the attic in the main tower from which to shoot arrows at enemies.

The construction of the house took two weeks. It was all built by two persons (ourselves, plus two little helpers), and was an educational process as rewarding as pedagogic: children saw and understood that things are achieved with effort, and that you can build your own dreams. 

For the structure and the floors we used spruce wood from the grandparent´s farm, from trees planted by the kids´ great grandfather and cut by their grandfather." 

"La casa se pintó con unas franjas blancas verticales, que continúan por la cubierta y ayudan a explicar la sección origen del proyecto. El resto de la madera se deja sin tratar, de manera que con el paso del tiempo ésta irá tomando un tono grisáceo que contrastará cada vez más con las partes pintadas, enseñando de una manera más obvia cómo pasa el tiempo, y con éste, cómo van creciendo los niños."

"The house was painted with vertical white stripes, which persist on the roof and help to explain the original section of the project. The rest of the wood is left untreated, so that over time it will take a grayish hue that will increasingly contrast with the painted surfaces, showing more obviously as time goes on, and also symbolising how children get older."
