Good morning ! How was your weekend? This Monday we return to the charge, today's post is about architecture, philosophy and land art. The memorials, which we must contextualize them in their own time to understand their own building. A memorial is an object or even a place whose purpose is to preserve the memory of a person or group, usually deceased, or a fact, for it used from plates, to streets and monuments . To cite one of the most important monuments in the art history would be Trajan's Column (113 AD) and The Burghers of Calais, by Rodin ( 1885-1895 ), in both cases, we commemorated wars against the Dacians , in the first case, or the Hundred Years War in the second. However, in this post we will focus on the figure of David Libeskind, one of the most controversial architects of the late eighties and nineties, and Dani Karavan.
Hagamos juntos una reflexión acerca de lo que supuso los años ochenta, se trata de una década en la que se construyen grandes complejos museísticos, una década de abundante cultura festiva, a diferencia de los años noventa, una década donde se desarrolla una cultura del recuerdo, más reflexiva. El recuerdo de personajes y acontecimientos históricos es uno de los referentes en los 90s, por ello, se levantaron monumentos, se realizaron multitud de exposiciones. Los motivos, varios, obviamente, el triple fin de época, década, siglo y milenio, que provocó una fiebre reflexiva acerca del pasado, presente y futuro. Además, se celebraron los aniversarios de importantes acontecimientos, como los 50 años del fin de la II Guerra Mundial. La confluencia de todos estos aspectos hicieron que se levantaran arquitecturas interpretadas, igualmente, como esculturas monumentales como el Jüdisches Museum de Daniel Libeskind en Berlin (1989-1998) o el Paisaje Conmemorativo de Walter Benjamin en Port Bou (1994) obra del artista israelí Dani Karavan.

El Jüdisches Museum es el primer proyecto que llegó a realizar la figura más representativa del deconstructivismo más reflexivo. Su planta, en clara relación con la estrella de David y la línea de la vida crea vacios que representan la pérdida de la cultura judía, consecuencia del holocausto. Los vanos de las ventanas se disponen sobre la fachada de cinc de manera premeditada, dado que se dirigen hacia las zonas donde décadas antes se había desarrollado la vida judía. Este museo refleja el proceso de conversión de la arquitectura en emblema.
The Jewish Museum is the first project that came to perform the most representative figure of the more thoughtful deconstruction architech, David Libeskind. Its plan, a clear relationship with the star of David and the life line, creates gaps that represent the loss of Jewish culture, a result of the Holocaust. The window openings are arranged on the zinc facade on purpose to show the areas where it had been developed decades earlier Jewish life. This museum reflects the conversion process of an architecture emblem.
Situado en plenos Pirineos, el Paisaje Conmemorativo de Walter Benjamin solemniza la memoria del filósofo y ensayista judío alemán Water Benjamin, cuyas circunstancias de muerte todavía se desconocen. Suicidio para evitar su expulsión de España hacia la Francia, controlada por los nazis, o asesinato por agentes secretos estalinistas. Muchas teorías son las que circulan en torno a su muerte, para evitar posibles profanaciones de su sepultura fue enterrado bajo el nombre de Benjamin Walter. El monumento construido por el artista israelí Dani Karavan hace uso del land art. Para su proyección, hizo uso de la propia biografía del alemán y de uno de sus títulos más importantes, Paisajes.El monumento surge a partir de tres caminos, el último de ellos es un túnel excavado en la roca y conformado por dos pareces de acero de color rojo de más de 2 m. de altura y una escalera que desciende desde el cementerio y el pequeño pueblo. En la parte superior, 87 peldaños de a cero y en la inferior, el cielo, dado que las escaleras se detienen súbitamente. El precipicio y el mar. No hay salida. Sólo aquella a la que se vio forzado Walter Benjamin. Arquitectura y arte llenos de sugestiones y emociones.

Many theories are circulating about his death, to avoid desecration of his burial, he was buried under the name of Walter Benjamin. The monument built by the Israeli artist Dani Karavan makes use of land art. For projection it, he took the own Benjamin biography and one of its most important titles, The Countryside. The monument arises from three ways, the last of which is a rock-cut look and consists of two red steel tunnel over 2 m . high and a ladder leading down from the cemetery and the small town. At the top, 87 steps and lower, the sky, as the stairs stop suddenly. The cliff and the sea. No way out. Only that which was forced Walter Benjamin. Architecture and Art full of suggestions and emotions.
