CASA MUSEO CESAR MANRIQUE EN LANZAROTE ° CESAR MANRIQUE'S HOUSE MUSEUM

Coincidiendo con mis visitas de obra a Canarias, esta semana me he propuesto acercaros parte de la obra que el artista canario, César Manrique, realizó en su tierra natal Lanzarote.
iYo ahora mismo daba el salto a esa isla maravillosa donde la piedra volcánica y sus casitas blancas componen su característico paisaje!
A veces sólo es necesario que alguien con gustos muy parecidos a los tuyos te empuje hacia algún lugar que conoce, y sabe que te gustará. Así que… ¿por qué no volver?
Because of my site management visits to the Canary Islands, this week I feature part of the work that the canarian artist, Cesar Manrique carried out in their native land, Lanzarote. Right now I could make the leap to this wonderful island where the volcanic stone and its white houses make up its characteristic landscape! It is sometimes necessary that someone who has common interests with you, push yourself somewhere you will like it. So… why don't return there?

Through the selected images on today's post, you will know a little more of the House Museum of César Manrique in Tahiche.

Ante todo este reconocido artista se consideraba pintor, pero fue también escultor, arquitecto, urbanista, medioambientalista… aunque no de formación, realizó con éxito todas estas disciplinas expresándose en cada momento con la que mejor le permitía manifestarse. Realizó campañas de concienciación para que se respetase el estilo arquitectónico tradicional y los habitantes de la isla no realizasen derribos y ampliaciones invasivas, promoviendo el uso de materiales locales frente a otros más globales. Al mismo tiempo convenció al gobierno canario para que eliminaran las vallas publicitarias de la isla.
 First of all, this recognized artist regarded himself as a painter, but was also sculptor, architect, urban and environmental planner… With no academical training,  he completed successfully all these disciplines, each time expressing himself through which he was allowed to say more.
Launched awareness campaigns promoting the traditional architecture style and convinced the inhabitants to not carry out invasive demolitions and extensions, by promoting the use of local materials instead of another more global. As well as he convinced the government of Canarias to remove the billboards of the island.

Su obra, y su influencia marcó la isla, y el aspecto exterior que hoy tiene. Su valor arquitectónico, fue la sencillez constructiva y la adaptación a la naturaleza. Y sus creaciones, esculturas de viento, pinturas, y construcciones están repartidas por toda la isla.
De estas, una de las más espectaculares es la que fue su casa y actualmente Fundación César Manrique.
His work, and its influence within the island, got the external appearance that today has. Its architectural value is the simplicity of construction and adaptation to nature. And their creations, wind sculptures, paintings and buildings are scattered throughout the island. These include one of the most spectacular , and the one that was his home and currently Cesar Manrique Foundation.

El edificio es realmente espectacular, colocado como un oasis encima de un río de lava azul-negra petrificada, se integra perfectamente en el paisaje. Naturaleza que aprovecha para colocar salones y parterres en el interior de la burbujas volcánicas, mezclando interior y exterior entre los que se entremezcla un suelo continuo de microcemento blanco y esculturas de hierro forjado.
Algunos salones diáfanos se han convertido en espacios de exposición de su obra y pinturas de Picasso, Miró, Tapies o Chillida, con vistas al Timanfaya y su impresionante rio de lava.
The building is really spectacular, situated as an oasis above a river of blue-black lava petrified, is integrated seamlessly into the landscape. Potential to take advantage of, to place lounges and parterres in the interior of the volcanic bubbles, mixing interior and exterior with continuous soil-cement floors and white wrought iron sculptures.  Some open rooms have been converted into exhibition spaces, of his work and paintings by Picasso, Miro, Tàpies and Chilida. As if that were not bad, with views to Timanfaya and its impressive lava river.

Impresionante también y quizá más espectacular, fue su primera obra, los Jameos del Agua, convirtiendo una gruta en auditorio natural y también destacar el Mirador del Rio, donde logra una gran armonía entre el volumen interior creado por la roca y el espacio interior. 

(Preferimos no colgar fotos de estos dos últimos edificios. Mejor sorprenderse en directo que contaros el final de la película no? :)

 Impressive too, and perhaps the most spectacular, was his first work Jameos del Agua, becoming a natural grotto in auditorium. As well as we can highlight the Mirador del Rio, where he accomplished a great harmony between the interior volume created by the rock and the interior space.
